HANDWARMERS

Every day, we live by three words: Remember, Celebrate, Bless. We remember Keith’s laugh, his love for life, family, and service. This week, as the snow fell here in middle Georgia, all I could think was, "He would love this!" He’d be out there on the four-wheeler, kicking up snow, exploring the woods, and, of course, trying to freeze me with his cold hands. He’d be throwing snowballs until someone got hurt!

And what would his dad do? Ask me four times, “You coming out?” while I struggled to get my boots and gloves on. Meanwhile, he’d be on the four-wheeler, grinning that grin that said, “Something’s about to happen.” We’d have a great time riding through the woods and gathering firewood. (Keith should be here).

We kept celebrating the fresh, flaky snow covering the farm. I kept thinking about how much fun we’d have if all our Officer friends were here—relaxing, telling stories, laughing, and warming around a bond fire. Doesn’t that sound amazing? But I know they’re all working hard to keep everyone safe and patrol the roads. So, the next best thing I could do was get hand warmers into the hands of our local LEOs before the big freeze hit.

I love when they say, "Ma’am, can I help you?" and I reply, "Nope, but I’ve got something for you!" The smile they give me is priceless, and for just a moment, the stress melts away. I get back on the road to find the next officer to share some warmth with.

I love my life and the purpose that God has so graciously placed in my heart. It might seem like a small gesture—a simple hand warmer and a brief interaction—but to me, it’s a reminder that they are seen and appreciated. I pray that in moments of doubt, when they ask themselves, “What am I doing?” they remember that they matter. They are important to their families, to their communities, and to people like me—another mother who believes in them.

You are making a difference. You are a hero to this mama. I believe in you and your calling.
